Family Law Across Pima County
Every family case in Pima County is heard in Tucson. Since July 2026 that no longer means one building, and the judge assigned to your case may not sit where you expect.

Pima County hears every family case in Tucson. What varies is which building, and that changed recently.
One County, One City, Two Buildings
Pima County runs family court entirely out of Tucson. There is no regional courthouse in Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita or Green Valley, so wherever you live in the county, your case is heard downtown.
In July 2026 that got slightly more complicated. Eight Pima County family court judges moved to the Consolidated Justice Court at 240 N. Stone Avenue. The Superior Court building at 110 W. Congress Street is still the courthouse most people picture, and not every family matter moved.
The practical effect is that the address on your notice matters more than it used to. Confirm which building your judge sits in before the first appearance rather than after.

Check before you drive
Notices and minute entries name your judge, and not always the building.
If the notice is not clear, call the assigned division and ask.
The Drive Is What Pima County Costs You
Pima County is bigger than some states. Ajo sits on the far western edge, a long way from downtown. Green Valley and Sahuarita are a real drive. Oro Valley and Marana are closer but still a commitment for a mid-morning hearing.
That shapes decisions that matter. Whether to ask about appearing remotely. How to write an exchange schedule that does not quietly assume both parents live in midtown. Whether a parenting plan built around Tucson survives one parent moving to the other end of the county.
We build the travel into the plan rather than leaving it as something to sort out later.

Four Things Worth Knowing
Where To File
Family petitions in Pima County are filed with the Clerk of the Superior Court in Tucson. There is no branch office elsewhere in the county to file at instead.
Which Building
The Superior Court sits at 110 W. Congress Street. Eight family judges moved to 240 N. Stone Avenue in July 2026. Confirm which one applies before your first appearance.
One Bench, One County
Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, South Tucson and Green Valley all fall under the same Superior Court. Where in the county you live does not change which court hears your case.
Plan For The Drive
Distance is the constraint here, not courthouse choice. Build travel time into exchange schedules and hearing days from the start.
Pima County Family Law FAQs
Do I have to file in Tucson if I live in Green Valley?+
Yes. Pima County has one Superior Court and it sits in Tucson. Living elsewhere in the county does not give you a different filing location.
It can affect whether you ask about appearing remotely, which is worth raising early rather than late.
Which building will my hearing be in?+
It depends on your assigned judge. Since July 2026 eight family court judges sit at the Consolidated Justice Court at 240 N. Stone Avenue rather than the Superior Court building at 110 W. Congress Street.
Check your notice, and call the division if it does not say.
Is family law different in Pima County than in Maricopa County?+
The statutes are the same statewide. What differs is the court. Pima has one location rather than four, a smaller bench, and its own local practice.
Anyone telling you the law changes at the county line is wrong. Anyone telling you the experience is identical has not worked in both.
When should I call?+
Earlier helps. The decisions that are hardest to undo tend to get made in the first few weeks, usually before anyone has spoken to a lawyer.
